Anoma

Anoma is the title of this short story, and it is a name for an unborn child as well.

A fourteen-year-old girl bearing a chlid of her father. This girl has no one to confide with except herself. She was in a situation both alone and helpless.

The narrator was "neither child nor woman". Because still at her young age, the narrator has to drop out from school and anticipate the birth of her son. The unspeakable shame involved causing by her unborn son was enormous. She felt left out from the outside world.

At the same time, she missed her mother. The mother who used to protect her against men. Sadly enough, her mother left her to work in the Middle East for "a pot of gold" that might never exist.
