DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: New college graduates will participate in the design of high performance, leading edge microprocessors for the PC and server markets. Computer Aided Design (CAD) tool development supporting physical and electrical analysis as well as architectural investigations and tradeoffs are areas qualified candidates will also undertake. SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS: Architecture/micro-architectural investigations, Perfomance modeling, Register Transfer Level (RTL) code development, Logic level design and analysis, detailed Circuit design, Design for test, Functional verification at the RTL and implementation level. CAD tool development positions in development/support of design are also available. PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: BSEE, MSEE or Computer Engineering and 1+ years of coop or internship industry experience. Preferred candidates will have graduated with a college degree within the last 12 months of start date. At AMD, we are committed to equal employment opportunity. Position description

As a Software Engineer, you will work on Quartus, Altera's state-of-the-art CAD tool. Your job will be to make advanced features of Altera's FPGAs easier to use. For example, you may work on writing software to help customer's interface with PLLs, LVDS, complex I/O, RAM or dedicated multipliers. A strong opportunity exists in this group to work with IC Design.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in a technical discipline, as is 1+ years of experience in an Enterprise or ISP network management role. The successful candidate must have good knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals (including Layers 2, 4-7, and content switching); experience with configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco network gear; good understanding of LAN networking technologies (Spanning-Tree, HSRP, and VRRP); an understanding of network routing protocols (OSPF and BGP); excellent written and oral communication skills; and strong troubleshooting and creative problem solving abilities. Experience with UNIX (Solaris/Linux) administration is a definite plus, as are network certifications such as CCNA and CCNP.
