Customer Applications Engineer Position: Customer Applications Engineer Responsibilities: You will interface with customers daily, helping them with key technical issues. Before commencing work, you will attend training to gain knowledge of our products. Through your work and training you will then apply your communication skills and knowledge of hardware and software with the customers. On a typical day you will spend four hours on the phone resolving technical issues with customers and Xilinx field engineers and salespeople, two hours of learning and training, and two hours of applications analysis and design work. Skills: Ability to communicate technical information in an organized and understandable fashion. Must have excellent interpersonal, telephone, and written communication skills with a confident presence and must be team oriented. JOIN RESEARCH IN NOVEL COMPUTER ARCHITECTURE AND ORGANIZATION Sun Labs is the research laboratory of Sun Microsystems Inc., employing the best and brightest computer scientists and engineers who study the latest technologies in hardware and software. We're seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow. You will join a world-renowned group of talented engineers, who are designing experimental computer architectures, high-speed communication links, and asynchronous systems. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The candidate will help in all aspects of full-custom circuit design and testing. In particular the candidate will design circuit schematics, perform behavioral simulations using Verilog, perform SPICE simulations, and design full-custom layouts. MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: See above.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: You will have a strong foundation in transistor theory and operation, digital circuits, simulation in Verilog and spice, and fluency in programming languages. Hands-on exposure to design using schematic capture and layout CAD tools, and experience testing chips in a lab environment is required. The selected candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, which are critical for your success and the team's success. Your experience in research and your ability to tackle problems with a large degree of uncertainty are essential.
